Build a map location strategy around neighbours
Start with a country you can place confidently, then describe the target relative to it. Luxembourg sits between Belgium, France and Germany. Lesotho is enclosed by South Africa. Those relationships provide more useful placement cues than memorising a screen coordinate, which changes whenever you pan or zoom.
Zoom before the small-country decision
Drag to the region first, then zoom until nearby borders are distinguishable. Use small-country markers when needed. Check the displayed country name after selection and before Drop pin. If several candidates overlap, read the candidate choices rather than assuming the first marker represents the intended state.
Use Wander as a location drill
Open untimed Wander and use search to find a country you missed. Inspect its neighbours and coast, move the map away, then locate it again. Search is a learning aid in this mode; do not build a timed strategy that depends on that same assist. You can explore without committing a final answer.
Do not judge area from screen size
World maps distort shape or area. Northern countries can look much larger than expected on the game’s Mercator map. An area clue calls for the question’s stated measurement, not the largest-looking polygon. Use a reference table to learn the distinction between total area and land area.
